HADIMBA TEMPLE
Also known as Hidimba Devi Temple and Dhungari Temple. Maharaja Bahadur Singh built this ancient shrine in 1553. This is the temple of Hidimba Devi, wife of Bheema. The wooden architecture of the sanctuary is very different from most of the Hindu temples you will find in the country. There is another shrine dedicated to Hidimba Devi’s son, Ghatotkacha, on the premises. Surrounded by dense cedar forests and snow-capped mountains that form the backdrop. The temple is one of the best places to visit in Manali.
SOLANG VALLEY
Solang valley is a paradise for adventure and sports lovers. While you are here, you can test your skills with a pair of skis or explore by snowmobile. When the weather warms up, people flock to zorbing and paragliding. You can also take a cable car and enjoy a fascinating view of the Himalayas. If you are looking for snow sports and activities, winters are the best time to visit. while the summer months are ideal for other adventure sports.
JOGINI FALLS
The precipitous falls of the Jogini falls are a short and difficult walk away from the main city of Manali. The path to the waterfall is panoramic and offers a glimpse of the Beas River and the snow-capped peaks of Rohtang. In addition to the serene setting, Jogini is also an important pilgrimage site and you can visit many ancient shrines around the pool at the bottom. An early departure is recommended so that you can spend more time in this picturesque natural site, which is one of the best places to visit in Manali for excursions and picnics.
TEMPLE OF MANU
The Manu temple is dedicated to an old sage who bears his name. The pagoda-style architecture of the sanctuary stands out among the deep valleys and mountain peaks that form a background worthy of a postcard. You will have to walk a little to get to the temple. But the view from above and the resulting spiritual vibrations are worth all your efforts.
THE MANALI GOMPA
The ornate design and quintessential Tibetan architecture make Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa, better known as Manali Gompa, one of the best sites in Manali. Built by Tibetan refugees in the 1960s, this monastery allows you to enjoy a peaceful environment and an unparalleled spiritual atmosphere. Some of the highlights of Manali Gompa include exquisite murals depicting important Buddhist events with bright colors and roofs built in the style of the pagoda. The stalls in the complex are a good place to buy Tibetan souvenirs and handicrafts.
LAKE OF BHIRGU
Take a moment and think about the perfect alpine meadows for postcards and evergreen forests near a clear body of water at high altitude. Well, you have just imagined Lake Bhrigu, one of the best trekking destinations in Manali. Small acclimatization is necessary if you make an excursion because the lake is over 4000 meters above sea level. The landscape and panoramic views of the Pir Panjal mountain range attract most visitors to this place.
NEHRU KUND
Nehru Kund, a natural spring located on the Manali – Rohtang Pass highway, is a good place to visit during the summers. The source is so-called because Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, used to visit it during his stay in Manali and drink water from this natural source. The crystal clear waters and calm landscapes of the Himalayas make it a good stop for those heading for the Rohtang Pass. Needless to say, Nehru Kund is an ideal destination for photographers and nature lovers.
ARJUN GUFA
Located near the dizzying currents of the Beas River, the Arjun cave is associated with a legendary history of the Mahabharata Hindu epic. According to legend, Arjun, who was one of the Pandava brothers, meditated here. Arjun cave, one of the best places near Manali for a picnic, offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and valleys. You can also visit Kunt Bhayo lake and Kunti Mata temple, two of the main attractions near the cave.
VAN VIHAR
If you are looking for moments of tranquility in the bohemian surroundings of the city of Manali, a short walk in Van Vihar Park is recommended. One of Manali’s most popular attractions, Van Vihar is a public park with lush greenery and trees that touch the sky. You can also hop on a boat and maneuver around the reservoir here. Bird watchers will appreciate observing local species in the park, especially in the morning.
